Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has welcomed news that flood defence improvements at the Glasdir Estate in Ruthin have been given the green light.

Residents living on the estate, where devastating flooding affected 122 homes in 2012, have been keen for the work to start, but Denbighshire County Council has been waiting for the go-ahead from Natural Resources Wales.

Now that formal ‘Flood Defence Consent’ has been granted, work on the defences can get underway.

Darren said:

“The residents have been eager for work to protect their homes to get underway for months now, but this has been holding things up. I am therefore extremely pleased that consent has at last been granted and I look forward to seeing the works completed as soon as possible so that those living on the estate can have the flood protection they deserve. All that’s needed now is good weather so that the work can get underway.”
