The Marriage (Same Sex) Couples Act 2013 was implemented on 13th March and Caerphilly County Borough Council has taken its first Notice of Marriage.
The happy couple from Ystrad Mynach have become the first to give their Notice of Marriage under the new legislation in Caerphilly borough.
The ceremony will take place at Penallta House on Saturday 29th March, which is the first day that same sex marriages can take place.
This is an historic moment for lesbian, gay and bisexual people, their families and their friends as it allows everyone to have their fairytale ending and have it officially recognised in Law.
Cllr. Harry Andrews, Leader of Caerphilly County Borough Council said, “I feel very proud that this couple have chosen to have their special day, on such an historic day, in Caerphilly borough. I’d like to congratulate them and wish them all the best in the future.”
