Join Cardiff Council’s Bereavement Service this Easter to remember and celebrate the lives of those dear to us.
An ecumenical Palm Sunday Memorial Service, to which all are welcome, will be held at the Wenallt Chapel at Thornhill Crematorium on Sunday, April 13, 2014.
The service, conducted by Reverend Michael Witcombe, will begin at 2pm. Deborah Morgan Lewis will be leading the singing and the service will conclude at approximately 3pm.
The collection during the service is in aid of the Friends of Velindre Hospital, which provides funds to assist in the purchase of medical equipment. The charity also provides support and assistance to patients to improve their comfort and welfare.
Visitors are invited to place a memorial card with a personal message in memory of loved ones in a designated flower garden area outside the crematorium. The cards will be available from the main office at Thornhill from and on the day of the service for a suggested donation of £2 with all money raised going to the charity.
Cardiff Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Bob Derbyshire said: “Everyone is welcome to attend. I know that the service brings comfort to a lot of people, and I’m glad that we are able to give this opportunity for people to come together at this time.
It also means that the Friends of Velindre Hospital, which is such an important organisation will benefit from any kind donations made, and will help them to continue their excellent work.”
Refreshments will be available at the end of the service.
