Responding to reports that Labour plan to follow Plaid Cymru in supporting rent controls, a Plaid Cymru spokesperson said:
“In her conference speech last October, Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood announced that she would introduce rent controls, so it is pleasing to see Labour catching up with us six months later.
“We hope that they will also catch up with us by supporting other Plaid Cymru policies – including creating 50,000 extra new jobs in Wales to halve unemployment, ending compulsory zero hours contracts for workers and scrapping the unfair Barnett Formula that costs Wales up to £400m per year.
“Unfortunately, Labour favours cutting the money that Wales gets from Europe and would slash investment in jobs and training in West Wales and the Valleys. That isn’t standing up for Wales.
“Plaid Cymru voted to keep European funding because we are the only party that represents the needs and interests of the people of Wales. We are the only party who always puts Wales first.”
