Commenting on the latest quarterly figures showing unemployment in Wales has fallen by 5,000, William Graham AM, Shadow Minister for Business, said:
“These figures are further signs that the under the Conservative-led Coalition, the Welsh economy is on the rise.
“Conservatives in government have taken tough decisions to reduce the deficit, control welfare and restore confidence to the UK economy.
“Britain is now set to be the fastest growing economy in the G7 this year and this latest fall in unemployment shows that Wales is getting back to work.
“Tax cuts for hardworking people, cuts to corporation tax and incentives for job creation have helped the private sector to grow.
“What Wales needs now is for the Welsh Labour Government to start playing its part in securing economic growth for Wales rather than constantly playing politics by talking down the Welsh economy and trying to take credit for success.
“Only a few months ago Labour Ministers were gleefully predicting recession, but are now falling over themselves to cynically take credit for economic growth that the Conservatives have delivered.
“Wales urgently needs the Welsh Labour Government to support the UK Government and to start playing its part in securing economic growth for Wales.
“It is very welcome that fewer people in Wales are out of work and that the Conservative long term economic plan is delivering the jobs and growth that we all want to see.”
