Mr Magik’s House, devised especially for children aged six and over to enjoy with their parents and older relatives and friends is returning to Chapter on Sunday 1 June with two family shows after their sold out performance last year.
Mr Magik was once a world famous illusionist and magician touring the world. Now he is an old man looked after at home by one of his former stage assistants and another carer. When they try to restage his favourite tricks and illusions chaos ensues.
This highly visual production allows the story to unfold, without words, through dance-theatre and animation with a specially created musical score.
Artistic Director Sean Tuan John said: “Mr Magik’s House has all Bombastic’s trademark humour but has poignant themes dealing with old age and dying. It has touched audiences young and old and is a perfect intergenerational experience”.
Bombastic’s performances at Chapter are accompanied by a family workshop, where children and those accompanying them are invited to meet the Bombastic performers and create some dance magic of their own. This is free to ticket holders but booking is essential as places are limited.
If children have some minutes before or after the performance Bombastic invites them have a go playing the digital game and see if they can succeed in moving the rabbit into the magician’s hat – www.bombasticdance.org
Children at Sully Primary School, Vale of Glamorgan have said:
“I really enjoyed the show. It was amazing. That was the best show I’ve ever watched. I wish I was in it! It was amazing when Alex did the back flip. I loved it when Mr Magik done magic. It was so Cool!”
“I really enjoyed going to your show, I loved it, it was funny and awesome! My favourite part was the horror animated scene…it was epic and a bit scary. Alex’s costume was amazing and funny, Mr Magik was also funny and a bit insane”
“I loved the cast’s personality and then how you performed the dance moves and the acting was spectacular….when it ended, I was distraught! I didn’t want it to end! Mr Magik was also amazing by his acting and movements. Mrs Seldon explained why he was acting that way and I understood why Damien was annoyed”
“I thought it was amazing and a tiny bit scary when Mr Magik’s magic tells him he was going to die”
