Regional AM Suzy Davies has raised concerns with Swansea Council about their decision to enforce a ground rent increase at the Elba estate in Gowerton following a rent review.
Mrs Davies, the AM for South Wales West, said: “I am concerned as to why the council have only carried out this review after 25 years.
“I have called on them to carry out an internal investigation so we can find out who is responsible for this oversight as such an increase in one go is definitely going to cause shock to residents.”
The Welsh Conservative AM added: “I have also asked the council to confirm what impact assessments they have carried out regarding some residents who might not be able to meet to increase in ground rent.
“I hope, for instance, they will be making arrangements for a transition period and that they will be providing advice to residents who may wonder whether this might affect their mortgage.”
