To celebrate this year’s National Recycle Week, Viridor – which manages Monmouthshire’s household waste recycling centres on behalf of the council – is offering one lucky resident the chance to win £100 simply by taking broken or unwanted small electrical items such as hairdryers and toasters to the Llanfoist or Five Lanes recycling centres before 30th June.
Viridor is working with Monmouthshire County Council to encourage more residents to recycle their small WEEE – that’s the technical term for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment. Small WEEE includes anything handheld with a plug or batteries for power. Items can range from kettles and radios to CD players and hairdryers as well as electric toothbrushes and power drills.
It’s easy to enter – just take your small electrical items to one of the sites before 30th June and ask a member of staff for an entry form. Return the completed form to enter the prize draw for £100.
Martin Williams, Viridor’s Area Manager said: “National Recycle Week which starts on June 16th is a great opportunity to clear out all those broken electrical items gathering dust around the house. A typical domestic iron contains enough steel to make 13 food cans, so by recycling your broken or unwanted items you are helping the environment by ensuring that valuable natural materials are conserved and not wasted.”
Llanfoist and Five Lanes recycling centres are open to Monmouthshire residents from 8am to 6pm every day.
