Glyn Davies, Conservative MP for Montgomeryshire, supported this year’s National Care Home Open Day on Friday 20th June by visiting care homes in Montgomeryshire.

National Care Home Open Day is an annual event that sees thousands of UK care homes opening their doors to welcome the public, connect residents with their local communities, and to help change perceptions of care homes for good. The Open Day aims to show people what care homes are really about, and sees homes arrange many events and activities that will help to create lasting links with their wider communities.

Speaking about National Care Home Open Day, Glyn Davies MP said:

“The National Care Home Open Day is a great initiative in encouraging local communities to support their local care homes and allowing the public to see for themselves the fantastic support which care homes provide.

“The aim of the day is to connect residents with their local community, and help to enrich the lives of residents by reminding people that every care home in the country is filled with real characters who are unique and intelligent, and are run by special people who really care.

“I really enjoyed my visits, where I was treated to a special performance by the Leighton Bell Ringers at The Rhallt; and to Llys Hafren, who were holding an Alice in Wonderland style tea party. These two care homes are examples of the excellent standards of care and support which is provided in homes across Montgomeryshire.”
