A group of 30 residents took part in a free first aid course organised by Assembly Member Ken Skates at a Ruabon pub.
Mr Skates, the Labour AM for Clwyd South, hosted the event with St John Wales volunteers at the Wynnstay Arms, which offered its largest function room free of charge on Friday afternoon (June 27).
He said: “It was a really successful session and it was brilliant to see so many people from Wrexham and Clwyd South turn up and take part so enthusiastically.
“I’d thank to thank everyone who came along, as well as St John Wales for offering me the chance to put the event on, their wonderful volunteers and the Wynnstay Arms for very generously allowing us to use the venue free of charge.
“It was a really fun couple of hours and it was great to meet so many people, but the most important thing is that 30 more people are now armed with the skills to potentially save someone’s life in the future.”
