Caerphilly is Ready for a Cheesy Weekend

Sword FightCaerphilly’s Big Cheese Festival is now less than two weeks away, with lots of fun events and activities planned for all the family to enjoy. With over 80,000 visitors expected to roll into Caerphilly between Friday 25th and Sunday 27th July looking for a weekend of cheesy fun, this year’s festival will be one to remember.

Set against the backdrop of the medieval Caerphilly Castle, the event celebrates Caerphilly’s rich historical past with an extravaganza of entertainment promising to put a cheesy grin on the face of visitors and residents alike.

Festivalgoers are invited to grab a slab of the Big Cheese action and join in the Friday night opening celebrations, which kick off at 3pm with the traditional funfair, musical entertainment, Great Cheese Race and fireworks display.

Saturday and Sunday will see a variety of interactive living history encampments, re-enactment displays, falconry, craft and charity stalls, with over 60 food traders selling a range of produce varying from freshly cooked crepes, pies and pasties to samosas, home made liqueurs, fudge and cheese….and that’s just a taste of what’s on offer.
