Superintendent Adrian McGee, who is leading the murder investigation into a fatal shooting of a man which occurred on Newton Road near Rugby, has confirmed that two further arrests have been made.
The murder investigation began as a result of a man, Jordon Banton aged 23, being found with gun shot wounds in a vehicle at around 11.40am on Friday 25 July. Mr Banton was pronounced dead at the scene.
The scene and the surrounding area were cordoned off while officers carried out a detailed search and forensic examination. Officers and staff from Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Speaking about the latest developments Detective Superintendent McGee said: “I can confirm that two men were arrested in Cardiff on Monday 28 July on suspicion of murder as part of our investigation.
“The two men are aged 28 and 34 and from Rugby and they remain in custody at this time.”
“Although six arrests have now been made as part of our investigation, we would still like to hear from anyone who may have information which could assist us. We are very grateful to the local community for their help in sharing our appeals which have been vital in assisting the police in this complex investigation.”
In relation to the other arrests made as part of this investigation:
On Friday 25 July, two people were arrested. A female was released with no further action and a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and was released on police bail on Saturday 26 July.
On Saturday 26 July, a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and was released on police bail on Saturday 26 July.
A 19-year-old man from the Rugby area, who was arrested on suspicion of murder on 26 July remains in custody, following an extension for further detention.
