All Aboard in Swansea TV Star Captain Barnacles Calls In

It was all hands to the Quadrant this week as kids’ favourite Captain Barnacles dropped anchor for the day and welcomed his junior shipmates aboard the Swansea shopping centre.

CThe popular TV polar bear and leader of the Octonauts had plenty of first mates there to greet him too on a busy day of summer holiday fun.

The intrepid undersea explorer, who is always the first to rush in and help whenever there’s a problem, spent a fun-filled day, meeting and greeting his young fans and posing for pictures.

Brothers Callum Pellow, nine, and Caiden Marino, three, were thrilled to meet their hero, along with their friend, Leanne Eaton, five, and so was their mum, Natalie Marino, of Morriston, who said: “They’ve had a really good time and the little one has had a big hug from Captain Barnacles.

“It’s been a great day. They love watching him and the Octonauts on TV. When they’re on you don’t get a peep out of them.”

Lindy Emms, Quadrant Shopping Centre Deputy Manager, said: “It’s been wonderful to welcome Captain Barnacles to Swansea and there has been a terrific turnout.

“He’s been meeting his young fans and there’s been a table set up for the kids to do some colouring and we’ve had some sweetie giveaways too.

“There was a big queue when he got here so they were really happy to see him and it was lovely to see so many youngsters and their families in the Quadrant with so many smiles on their faces.

“Having the chance to see one of their heroes has been a great day out for our young shoppers.”
