A new photographic exhibition showcasing images from the Rhymney Valley is to be held at Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Penallta House headquarters.
Named ‘Valleys Re-envisioned’, the exhibition shows images created by two of Wales’ greatest photographers – David Barnes and Paul Cabutts. The work focuses on the people and places within the Rhymney Valley and inhabits the shops, pubs and landscapes that make the area unique.
Paul and David are working in the greater Rhymney Valley area to produce new work over a two-year period. The photographers, both of whom have exhibited and published internationally, are focussing on the area in this unique project supported by Caerphilly County Borough Council Arts Development, Ffotogallery and the University of South Wales.
Dave Barnes said: “My work intends to show the character of the people and landscapes here and aims to show what life is like today. It will be the first major piece of work for many decades that captures this.”
The work can be seen every day from the 26th of August through to the 21st of September in the foyer area of Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Penallta House offices in Hengoed, Ystrad Mynach. The project is a Wales Arts Council-funded initiative.
