The Information and Support Centre at University Hospital Llandough recently celebrated its first anniversary (15th May 2015).
Since opening the Centre has helped hundreds of people, providing advice and guidance to nearly a thousand visitors from Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan and many other areas.
Jane Rowlands-Mellor Lead Nurse Patient Experience said: “I’m really pleased that the Centre has been able to help so many people. The feedback from visitors has been very positive. People have said ‘what a lovely place, such a welcoming area, with plenty of resources available.’ This provision would not have be possible if it wasn’t for the support and time given by Health Board Volunteers, Third Sector Organisations and staff members that support the Centre on a weekly or monthly basis.”
Some of the Third Sector Organisations and staff who currently support at the Centre include:
- Alzheimer’s Society
- Friendly Advantage
- Carer Support Officer at UHL.
- Hafal
- Vale 50+ Forum
- Epilepsy Wales
- Cardiff and Vale Charitable Funds
- Vale Centre Voluntary Services
- Long Term Conditions Alliance
- Diverse Cymru
During the next twelve months the Information Centre will be moving to a new home, located within the new Plaza, which is currently under construction at University Hospital Llandough.
In the future, further links will be developed with Third Sector Partners and we will be looking to recruit additional volunteers to continue to support this growing service.
