Hundreds of people turned out on Friday 13 November to support the Pink Tie Gala, a fundraising event in aid of The Breast Centre at University Hospital Llandough.
The Pink Tie Gala, The Breast Centre’s annual event, was held in the magnificent surroundings of City Hall, Cardiff.
Patron of The Breast Centre, Julien MacDonald, was in attendance, showing his support to this worthy cause.
Over £5000 was raised on the night, through an auction and raffle, and there were plenty of generous donations from those who attended the event.
The Breast Centre allows patients from Cardiff and the Vale to be treated in one location. It also provides care to individuals who have been referred for specialist treatment from all across Wales.
This fantastic combined facility ensures that outpatient clinics and diagnostic radiology services are housed together and located close to the ward and operating facilities. This means that more patients can be treated via day case procedures, therefore reducing the need for a stay in hospital.
Patients who need to have a mammogram or ultrasound can get the results on the same day. Where further investigations are needed these can also be carried out at the Centre.

The Breast Centre staff see around 250 patients each week, which means that around 400-450 new breast cancer patients, both male and female, are seen each year.
Funds raised at the gala event will go towards helping patients access complimentary therapies and exercise classes, which are both vital components in helping to achieve better clinical outcomes and increase their general feeling of wellbeing.
