Wales Women have been forced into a late change for the Six Nations clash against England with centre Naomi Thomas pulling out with a knee injury.
As a result, Ceri Redman will receive an early birthday present when she steps out at Esher RFC tomorrow as Thomas’s replacement. The UWIC centre will be making her international debut just one day before her 21st birthday.
With Redman moving up from the replacements bench, experienced winger Louise Rickard now comes into the squad as her replacement.
Originally from Bala, Redman has had to overcome a serious knee injury to force her way into the side and admits facing England on her debut is a huge task.
“I’m quite excited about playing now. When I first heard I might be playing I was a bit nervous, and thought ‘Oh my god,’ but now I’m really looking forward to it. I couldn’t have asked for a tougher game to get my first cap,” said Redman.
