THE 2015 Rugby World Cup has been awarded to England and the RFU are promising a money spinning bonanza taking rugby into the citadels of the round ball game with matches at Old Trafford and The Emirates.
There’s plenty for fans in Wales to look forward to as well. There’s the short drive to Twickenham to watch us lift the trophy to start with, and Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium looks likely to further cement its status as one of the great stadiums of world rugby if matches are staged on this side of the Severn Crossing.
The plan for pool games and two quarter-finals to come to Wales has yet to be approved by the IRB and Wales could be forced to play away from their fortress and the home advantage it gives them.
No doubt red shirts will fill the stands wherever they play. The Millennium hosted four games for the French-hosted 2007 tournament.
Cardiff is also in line to host games for the Great Britain Rugby League World Cup in 2013.
