Come to the Beaufort Theatre on Friday 19th February at 2pm to find out everything you need to know about pirates in an hour written and performed by CBBC presenters and the creators of Potted Potter, Dan and Jeff. Tickets £4.50 & £16 Family Ticket (4 people).
After the hilarious success of Potted Potter, delightful double act Dan and Jeff return with this new compressed caper. In search of talking parrots and mysterious buried treasure, they’re swapping wizards for walking the plank and trading Hogwarts for the high seas.
Pitched at just the right level to keep children entertained and adults unsuccessfully trying to hide their grins. The List *****
Potted Pirates promises tall tales of the seven seas, from Long John Silver to Blackbeard, plus notorious cross-dressing lady pirates Anne Bonny and Mary Read. Dan and Jeff also promise a full-scale re-enactment of the Spanish Armada, featuring thirty actors in full costume. Will Dan persuade Jeff to let him play Jack Sparrow? And how will Jeff keep things ship-shape with that scallywag aboard? Shanties aside, Potted Pirates promises to hit all the notes you’d expect from this superbly shambolic double act.
The schtick is practised, the jokes fast and furious and the whole play a great swashbuckling trip. Herald ****
Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner have played three sell-out Edinburgh seasons and London runs with Potted Potter and have toured extensively in the UK – the show toured internationally in 2009. Best known as CBBC presenters, the pair have made storytelling appearances on the good pirate ship Blue Peter and Big Brother’s Little Brother.
Recommended for shipmates aged six to Davey Jones (who is very old indeed), even those who don’t know their shipping forecast from their sea shanty.
