Rachel Trezise meets the audience

Glynneath library has welcomed Rhondda born author Rachel Trezise to a meet the audience event this week.

Rachel’s book ‘Dial M for Merthyr‘ is one of the shortlisted titles that is being voted on by the residents of the village as part of the Big Read10 campaign.

Big Read 10 is a community reading project created by Neath Port Talbot Council’s library service thanks to £20,000 funding from the Welsh Books Council.

The campaign gives the community of Glynneath a chance to take part in a project that will shortlist ten books and eventually vote for a winner.

Dial M for Merthyr‘ is Rachel’s third book and is part social history and part travelogue as she tours with a Merthyr punk rock band.

The voting campaign is due to finish next week and the winner announced in March. The winning authors will be presented with the inaugural Max Boyce Prize at Glynneath library next month.

Council Leader, Ali Thomas, said, “The Big Read 10 campaign is an ambitious and exciting project which gives the community of Glynneath an opportunity to be part of a cultural and educational programme of reading.”
