RNLI lifeboats from Flint and West Kirby were involved in a search of the River Dee yesterday evening, following a mayday call received by Liverpool Coastguard.
The search involving the two RNLI lifeboats was carried out for almost two hours, from a point south east of Mostyn to the mouth of the river. Both lifeboats were firing white paraflares to illuminate the area, but nothing was found and the search was called off at approximately 8.30pm.
Flint lifeboat was recovered and returned to the lifeboat station, and was ready for service at 9.05pm.
RNLI volunteer Lifeboat Operations Manager for Flint, Alan Forrester, commented, “It was a cold night and once again I was pleased with the excellent turn out of volunteer crew.”. Alan continued, “We are always looking for new volunteer crew who live or work in Flint – if you are interested or want to know more, please contact me on 07785593247.”
