Police are appealing for witnesses following a number of burglaries in the South Denbighshire and Conwy areas.
Four incidents were reported to the police on Wednesday, February 24.
In the first incident a man visited the home of an elderly woman in Bryn Seion, Denbigh during the afternoon, purporting to be from the water board. He stated there was water leak and went in to check the taps. When he left the premises she found that a quantity of cash had been stolen
In the second incident, which happened between 1.30pm and 6.30pm, intruders forced entry into a house in Lon Llewelyn, Denbigh. Nothing was stolen during this burglary.
In a further incident on the same day, intruders forced entry into the home of an elderly man in Rhewl. This incident occurred sometime between 11.30 and 3pm. The intruders searched various parts of the house but again nothing appears to have been stolen.
In a separate burglary, which happened at about 7.15pm on the same day, offenders entered the home of an elderly woman at Penrhos Avenue in Llandudno Junction.
Two men entered the property purporting to be from the water board, they said there was problem with the water taps. Whilst inside the property they stole a quantity of cash.
Inspector Martin Davies said: “These offences all occurred on the same day. In two of the offences the offenders purported to be water board officials, and in the main the victims have been elderly.”
“With the better weather approaching we are urging people to be extra vigilant and to be mindful of bogus officials and rogue traders.”
