Police are appealing for Wrexham householders to make sure they lock their front and backdoors when they go out, go to bed or occupy some other part of the house such as the living room to watch TV.
There have been ten burglaries in Southsea, Brynteg, Hightown and Whitegate over the last two weeks, where thieves have entered homes though unlocked doors.
Some incidents have occurred while occupants are in bed and others while they have been watching TV in the living room, with entry gained though unlocked kitchen doors.
Thefts have included laptop computers and handbags. Detective Sergeant Roz Miorgan of the burglary unit said: “I would urge residents to be vigilant and not to tempt opportunist thieves by leaving their homes insecure, even when they are at home.
“We have arrested and man and women in connection with offences of this nature, however, further offences are still being reported.”
