Eager passengers will have to wait a little bit longer for the reintroduction of the Swansea to Cork ferry.
Fastnet Line, the company operating the new service, says sailings originally planed for Friday March 5, Saturday March 6 and Sunday March 7 have now been cancelled.
The first commercial sailing of the MV Julia vessel on the Swansea to Cork Route is now expected to take place early next week (The week commencing Monday March 8) although an exact day and time has yet to be confirmed.
Technical difficulties in completing refit works on the ferry have led to the delay.
A Fastnet Line spokesperson said: “Fastnet Line would like to thank our customers for their understanding at this time and we look forward to the early commencement of this service which will be so important to the economic future of the communities and businesses on either side of the Irish Sea.
“Passengers who were booked to travel on these cancelled sailings will be contacted by Fastnet Line and offered the option to book alternative dates of their choice. Should they not wish to book alternatives dates at this time, passengers will receive a full refund of their fares. Passengers impacted by this delay will be offered a 50 per cent discount off their fare when they next book with Fastnet Line.
“We wish to clarify that the delay is not connected to the works carried out at Harris Pye dockyard and wish to record our appreciation of the support we have received there and in Wales to date.”
