CHILDREN can enjoy free fun creative workshops every Saturday morning from September to Christmas at Swansea’s Glynn Vivian Art Gallery.
The scheme follows the success of similar workshops held this summer and will kick-off on Saturday, September 5.
Classes will be split into three age groups: four to six-year-olds, seven to ten-year-olds and 11 to 14-year-olds.
Each group will then be asked to attend on a different Saturday so children can learn alongside others of the same age and ability.
The classes use different techniques and styles to give children the chance to learn new skills in a variety of ways from painting and drawing to more alternative media.
No experience is necessary and each class will be tailored to the abilities of the children.
Booking is essential because places are expected to fill quickly: call the Glynn Vivian Gallery’s reception on 01792 516900.
Councillor Graham Thomas, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, said: “The Glynn Vivian is setting up workshops and fun things to do for all the family so the local community can get the most from the Gallery.
“A wide range of diverse events have been organised for coming months that range from film screenings to live acoustic bands.
“So you’ll find something fresh and exciting going at the Glynn Vivian regardless of what your interests may be.”
Further plans will see the Gallery inviting guest artists to attend at the end of each month to lead one-off workshops based on their own creative skills and experience.
There will also be events for grown-ups to take part in from October when adult art classes are set to take place on Saturday afternoons. Look out for more information on Welsh Icons News.
All exhibitions, workshops and events at the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery are free and everybody’s welcome.
