£2,000 raised for Barry Dock RNLI

The Shamall Lodge of the RAOB have raised £2,000 for the vital Barry Dock Lifeboat crew training fund.

Mark Haines the Lodge Grand Provincial Master said that he and his fellow Lodge Brethren were very pleased to support the RNLI Barry Dock Lifeboat crew training fund.

Gerry Adams the volunteer Press Officer said that this is a fantastic gesture of good will from so far afield. Gerry believes that this must be the most distant fund raising done for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

Mark Haines said that there will be more money towards the end of the year. He also has built a ‘ fund raising room’ in his villa and it is adorned with lots of Lifeboat memorabilia and in particular, from the Barry Dock Lifeboat Station.

The training of the mostly volunteer crews is taken very seriously by the RNLI. It costs a lot of money to professionally train crews and qualify them for their lifesaving tasks. The men and women crew members deserve the best training to carry out their sometimes dangerous missions.

The Chairperson of the Barry Dock Lifeboat Fund Raising Branch, Mrs Christine Tutton said that this another tremendous effort of fundraising by a supporting organisation.
