Commenting on the publication of NHS waiting times statistics, Shadow Health Minister Andrew RT Davies AM said:
“Not only did the Assembly Government fail to hit its target of cutting waiting times to 26 weeks in January, it is now seeking to cover up future failures altogether.
“The public must be given information on the performance of the NHS and have confidence that the data is robust and accurate.
“Without that how on earth can patients judge the Assembly Government on its record in cutting waiting times for treatment?
“Proposals to stop collecting and publishing waiting times data suggests the Health Minister is keen to suppress information about her own failures.
“We already know that when she misses targets she lowers them. And if she still doesn’t hit them she claims she did or delays publication altogether.
“Now to cover up the evidence she wants to get rid of the evidence altogether.
“Hospital waiting times are a problem which has plagued the Assembly Government for a decade. Rather than improving the situation Labour and Plaid Cymru policies are making it worse.”
