The next blue Light Disco, held by the local Neighbourhood Policing Team will be held at the New Community Centre in St Athan on Saturday March 20th from 7.00pm until 10.00pm.
The previous disco was a huge success with over 70 young people going along and St Athan PCSO Lynda Fraser said: “We are very grateful to Phil Kirkham of Major Music in Llantwit Major who has again arranged for the bands to perform. Live performances certainly make a difference.
“This is a great partnership event with the neighbourhood Police working in collaboration with the MOD, Army and RAF Police, the Methodist Church based at The Gathering Place and local community volunteers.”
Commenting on the first disco, Michelle Legumi of St Athan Methodist Church said: “The Blue light disco and live band night was a great success with lots of young people coming along. We were pleased to host such an event where young people can be safe and enjoy a night out.
“We held a consultation last October when some 40 young people told us what they wanted to see in the community and band nights came up as one of the top five activities.
“Many were inspired by the bands, which were made up of young people of all ages, having a go and playing in front of their peers. It was also good to see parents supporting them. I was greatly impressed by the quality of the music.”
