Dean Holdsworth, manager of Newport County has told us:
“It’s with big disappointment that I have to inform you that Sam Foley will miss the remainder of the season.
“Sam went to hospital after the game where we found out that he has a small hairline fracture. Everyone will do all that we can to help him back to full recovery asap.
“Sam has been a massive player for us this season and will be missed on the pitch by the squad and I’m sure you the fans.
“Thank you to all the fans who travelled down to Thurrock and their support at the end. It was one game a little too early in my opinion after the back to back games of Bishops Stortford and Havant, the celebrations (especially!), training and travelling had taken it’s toll. I do not want to take anything away from Thurrock however, who put in a massive effort. We looked shattered after the game and it’s now up to the squad to remain focussed on the remaining games to rest their bodies and do the right things on and off the pitch during the week to make sure they are able to get back to level they have worked so hard to achieve.”
