Local AM Angela Burns says Conservative plans to scrap Labour’s “tourist tax” is great news for Pembrokeshire’s tourist industry.
Labour plans to abolish the Furnished Holiday Lets tax relief from April 6 – hitting hundreds of self catering businesses in Pembrokeshire.
But Conservatives have now said they will keep the tax relief in place if they win the next election.
“This is a huge boost to our tourist industry in Pembrokeshire,” said Mrs Burns.
“Scrapping the tax relief will not only make it harder for businesses already struggling with higher rates but will also deter new start ups in the sector.
“Small family-run businesses need all the help they can get at the moment and scrapping this scheme would just be another nail in the coffin.”
