Commenting on today’s debate in the National Assembly on the Remuneration Measure, Leader of the Opposition Nick Bourne AM said:
“The National Assembly has benefited from being an open transparent institution and this must be maintained.
“We have already indicated that our party is ready, willing and determined to ensure that we continue to operate in an open way.
“Robust actions to ensure transparency in the Assembly’s proceedings will certainly have the strong support of the Welsh Conservatives, just as we strongly support measures to reassure the public and to regulate our own affairs.
“My colleagues and I also strongly support the introduction of a Code of Conduct for lobbyists so we do not see similar incidents as have been seen in Westminster over the last week.
“It is only regretful that the Assembly Government is not here today to show its support for this Measure.”
