Out of the Woods Festival Returns to Bute Park

If you go down to Bute Park on Sunday 23rd August the Out of the Woods Festival is taking place at Coopers Field at the rear of Coopers Field. This is a free event offering a wide range of exciting woodland and wildlife related activities for the whole family.

Attracting hundreds of visitors, this year’s free festival, supported by GE Healthcare and Panasonic UK Ltd provides lots of activities for children in separate areas throughout the site. These include arts and craft making, story telling as well as getting involved in woodland and wildlife activities such as seeing and touching woodland birds and other wildlife.

For the adventurous among you, there will be woodland walks and the chance to practice your climbing skills with the Council’s fearless Arboricultural team.

The parents and adults haven’t been forgotten, as The Out of the Woods festival provides many activities for families including a marquee as they can seek useful advice from wildlife gardeners and local conservation groups, get back to nature by sampling home cooking made from unusual native fruits and herbs, or indulge in a spot of retail therapy at the specialist stalls selling locally made products and woodland crafts.

This year the event will incorporate a dog show in the afternoon to encourage dog owners who care for their animals and their environment. There will be also be a display by the Police Dog Handling team who are attending the show.

Councillor Nigel Howells, Executive Member for Sport, Leisure & Culture said “We are delighted to once again be hosting the “Out of the Woods Festival”. It is a fabulous way to give children the chance to learn about and interact with nature and local wildlife in a fun family environment. We are very grateful to GE Healthcare and Panasonic UK for their continued support. “ So why not take your little wild ones along and join the fun! Convenient parking is available in the afternoon in North Road and Sophia Gardens situated close to the event.

The festival is being held from 10:30am until 4:30 pm, at Cooper’s Field in Bute Park, Cardiff.
