The National Eisteddfod has announced that Festival Park Branded Outlet Shopping will sponsor the Sunday at this year’s festival held in The Works, Ebbw Vale from 31 July – 7 August.
Elfed Roberts, National Eisteddfod Chief Executive , said:
“We are delighted to announce our partnership with Festival Park, which is one of Ebbw Vale’s greatest attractions. The National Eisteddfod believes in working closely with businesses across the festival’s catchment area, and are pleased that we will be working with Festival Park on some joint promotion over the next few months.
“The Sunday at this year’s Eisteddfod will be very different, as the Welsh Assembly Government has provided us with additional funding to offer free entry to the Maes. This has proved to be a huge success with almost 8,000 tickets allocated within the first few weeks of the scheme.
“The scheme is primarily aimed at people across Blaenau Gwent and the Heads of the Valleys area, and getting the support of a well known and respected local employer to sponsor the Sunday at the Maes is a great boost to help us to bring in local visitors.”
Ian Sanderson, Director at Chester Properties, added:
“Festival Park is delighted to be working in partnership with the National Eisteddfod, which will provide a boost to Blaenau Gwent. As the region’s main centre for outlet shopping and leisure we are looking forward to welcoming large numbers of visitors during the Eisteddfod.
“We have added big brand names such as Marks and Spencer’s and Gap to our impressive line up of shops to provide visitors to the area a unique shopping experience when visiting Blaenau Gwent”
The Eisteddfod receives a grant from the Welsh Assembly Government through the Welsh Language Board. The Eisteddfod also receives funding from unitary authorities in Wales through its partnership with the Welsh Local Government Association. This year’s festival has received £300,000 from the Heads of the Valleys Regeneration Programme, to enable the Eisteddfod to visit the Blaenau Gwent and Heads of the Valleys area.
