A special event entitles Our Voice which will give young people an opportunity to know their rights and to voice their opinions will be held in Pwllheli on Saturday, 1 May.
The event has been organised by Gwynedd’s Children and Young People Partnership. The aim of the day is to give young people between the ages of 12 and 25, living in the Dwyfor area, the opportunity to find out about services tailored for them and to give their opinions on matter which affect their everyday lives.
There will be several stalls at the open day which will provide information about education, careers and offering health advice. There will also be an opportunity for youngsters to find out about events, clubs and organisations in Dwyfor which could be of interest to them.
The day will also be a chance for the younger generation to learn about Our Rights – Gwynedd Children and Young People’s Rights Charter.
Iwan Trefor Jones, Partnership Chairman, said:
“The children and young people of Gwynedd have the right to have the best start in life, which includes having a good education, decent level of health care and knowing that they are safe. It is also vital that the younger generation also have time to enjoy themselves and to voice their opinions.
“This will allow them to develop fully both physically and emotionally. This is very important for the future of our society.
“I would urge the young people of Dwyfor to call by the event – this is an excellent opportunity to meet other people of the same age in a fun and friendly environment and of course to find out about things to see and do in the area.”
Young people are invited to spend the whole day at the Our Voice event. There will be all day workshops discussing issues such as alcohol and drug awareness, education and skills. Those attending should register beforehand and lunch is available. Those who wish to drop in for a short period are also welcome.
The Our Voice event will be held at Dwyfor Leisure Centre at Pwllheli on Saturday, 1 May between 10am and 4.30pm. For more information or for a registration form contact [email protected] or telephone 01286 679914 or 07990 771746.
