South Wales Police is responding to complaints from residents in one part of Pontypridd about parking.
During recent Police and Community Together (PACT) meetings in Ynysbwl the community raised concerns about motorists parking on the single yellow lines in Robert Street during restricted hours.
Now the Ynysbwl Neighbourhood Policing Team is taking action by placing warning letters on offending vehicles.
Sergeant Ben Rowe said: “We would like to remind residents that parking on the yellow line within the restricted period is an offence.
“We are sympathetic to the fact that Ynysbwl was not built for the number of vehicles that are now on the road. However, the restrictions are in place for road safety and must be enforced to ensure road users and pedestrians are not put at undue risk.
“Over the coming months the Ynysbwl Neighbourhood Policing Team will be increasing patrols in Robert Street and £30 fines will be issued to any offending vehicles.
“I hope the community, particularly residents, will appreciate that we are giving this warning before we start issuing fixed penalty tickets.”
PACT is a monthly meeting to enable residents to come together with local police officers and discuss issues affecting the community. Also attending these meetings are the local Neighbourhood Policing Team and Councillors.
Each month the meeting choses three priorities to be tackled through the month.
Everyone can have a say and the priorities are chosen by everyone. The priorities are tackled by the most appropriate partner, whether it is community members, councillor or the policing team. PACT welcomes all members of the community.
