An appeal for witnesses and information is being made following a distraction burglary at an address in Rhosgadfan, near Caernarfon.
At approximately 10:15am on Tuesday, 6th April two men visited the address purporting to be working for Manweb. One of the men claimed they needed to do some safety checks and whilst this man kept the elderly victim talking, the second man entered the address.
A short while later both men left the address and the victim discovered that a large quantity of cash had been stolen.
The first man is described as being white, between 5 ft 8 and 5 ft 10 inches tall with brown eyes. He spoke with a West-Country accent.
The second man is described as being white and between 5 ft 8 and 5 ft 10 inches tall.
Sergeant 1705 Neil Hughes said: “I would stress that this is a very rare offence in this area and that overall crime rates in the District are low, however, this was a cowardly, planned offence committed against a vulnerable lady who has been left traumatised by the incident.
“We are very keen to locate the two male offenders and are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area and who may also have been approached in similar circumstances, or anyone who may have witnessed suspicious behaviour at that time to contact us.”
House to house enquiries have been carried out in the area and other enquiries are ongoing.
Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at Caernarfon Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers Wales Cymru anonymously on 0800 555 111.
