Local businesses across the Blaenau Gwent area have been invited to come together to discuss how to get involved in the Blaenau Gwent and Heads of the Valleys National Eisteddfod, held later this year.
The meeting, held at the Ebbw Vale Institute on Wednesday evening, 14 April, has been organised to encourage local businesses of all kinds to make the most of the Eisteddfod’s visit to The Works from 31 July – 7 August, and to discuss ways to target the 160,000 visitors welcomed to the area for Wales’ leading festival.
The event is being organised by the National Eisteddfod in partnership with Blaenau Gwent Council.
Eisteddfod Organiser, Hywel Wyn Edwards, said:
“This week’s meeting has been organised to ensure that local businesses have the latest information about the Eisteddfod, and we’ll be on hand to offer advice on how to take advantage of the opportunity to market services or products to the high number of visitors the Eisteddfod will bring into the area at the beginning of August.
“We have been working closely with the Blaenau Gwent town centre managers for many months, and we are keen to ensure that the welcome and the enthusiasm shown by local people is clearly on show across the towns ov er the next few weeks.
“We’ll be celebrating that there’s only 100 days to go until the beginning of the festival on 21 April, and we are keen to see local towns playing an important part in this promotional work, which will encourage people from all over Wales and beyond to join us in Blaenau Gwent and the Heads of the Valleys at this year’s National Eisteddfod.”
