Figures published by the Department of Work and Pensions rank Denbighshire joint 8th in the UK for the speed it takes the authority to turn around housing benefit and council tax benefit claims.
Out of 378 local authorities in the UK, the 2009/10 first and second quarters show a Right Time Indicator (speed of processing) of seven and a half days on average in Denbighshire.
Denbighshire’s Head of Revenues and Benefits, Ken Jones, praised the work of staff in turning benefit claims around so promptly but added the aim is to continue to improve on these results.
