Montgomeryshire AM Mick Bates congratulated Montgomeryshire’s finalists on the success at the YFC national drama final in Torquay at the YFC AGM 2010. Over 4,000 members travelled from across England and Wales to mark the 70th annual general convention held in Torquay over the weekend, which saw Berriew YFC pick up the prize in the national drama final.
Mr Bates comments:
“I was delighted to learn of the tremendous success of Berriew Young Farmers’ Club, who picked up the prize on behalf of all Montgomery YFC members in the national drama final in Torquay last weekend.
“I was very fortunate to attend Theatr Hafren earlier in the competition, to see some of the Montgomeryshire Young Farmers Clubs perform in an evening of wonderful entertainment.
“Every year club members, alongside their friends and family and club leaders work incredibly hard to produce fantastic shows as they take part in the drama competition. It is so encouraging to see young people from across the county take part in this event each year and embrace their talent and individuality.
“Of course only one club could go forward to represent Montgomery YFC at the national final and I congratulate Berriew YFC on their excellent performance. The YFC is the biggest youth organisation in the UK and the success of Berriew YFC is a reflection of the incredible talent of young people across Montgomeryshire and I am so pleased that their hard work has been rewarded by such fantastic success.”
