Cabinet approves Corporate Plan paper

Cabinet members are recommending Denbighshire’s draft ‘Delivering the Corporate Plan 2010-11’ document to Full Council for adoption following the meeting today (Tuesday).

Members agreed to the plan, which sets the strategic direction for the authority over the coming year as part of a medium term plan that will guide the Council in its bid to become one of the top ten performing councils in Wales.

The plan details what the Council aims to achieve and how it will do this, focussing on the four top priorities of demographic change, education, floods and roads and regeneration.

Success will be measured against 23 Performance Indicators which cover a range of areas from education and looked after children through to carbon reduction and housing. This will enable the Council to measure its effectiveness in achieving these aims and whether targets have been met.

Denbighshire Chief Executive, Mohammed Mehmet, said: “The 2010-11 financial year marks an important stage in the journey to becoming one of the top ten performing councils as this is the first year we will have a baseline performance to mark ourselves against.”

“I am confident with the start we have made to improving the Authority and bringing the Council closer to our communities.

“I look forward to this journey of improvement to create a council that will make a real difference to people’s lives throughout Denbighshire.”

The draft will now go before Full Council on 11 May for final ratification.
