It’s never too late to learn a new skill or hobby and there’s no time like the present.
With a series of free activities taking place throughout Cardiff later this month to celebrate Adult Learners’ Week from May 15 – 22, there’s never been a better time to seize the day and learn a new skill, pastime or develop your career.
The Cardiff Learning Festival, supported by Niace Dysgu Cymru and funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and the European Social Fund (ESF), is an exciting programme of over 50 free learning activities for all to enjoy.
Throughout the festival, each day’s activities will have a theme ranging from Skills for Life day to Cultural Heritage Day and Digital Day at a number of venues across the city.
Learners will have the opportunity to find out about tracing their ancestors by using the facilities at Cardiff Central Library, how to forage for food with an introduction to wild food plants at St Fagans National History Museum or mosaics, singing and tai chi.
There’s also plenty on offer for learners looking to pick up a new skill to progress their careers from digital photography, multimedia and internet skills.
The festival will be an opportunity for people interested in enrolling in one of Cardiff’s adult and community learning courses to find out more about the wide range of subjects taught across the city.
Executive Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, Cllr Freda Salway, said: “There are over 50 activities organised throughout the city that will inspire those taking part to continue their learning. Learning a new skill or pastime can be very enjoyable and rewarding.
“Adult Learners Week is an excellent opportunity for people to see what is on offer in our city.”
