Storytelling and Science

Storytelling and Science will be the theme of the George Ewart Evans Centre for Storytelling’s Fourth Annual Symposium to be held at the University of Glamorgan’s ATRiuM campus in Cardiff later this week.

The event begins on Friday night (14th May) with an evening of performances examining how we communicate the narrative of illness.

This is followed by a conference on Saturday 15th May, where speakers include Dr Steve Killick, Clinical Child Psychologist who uses storytelling in his work and has written considerably on this subject. He will examine the potential of understanding the impact of storytelling on the developing mind particularly in the cognitive, social and emotional domains.

Professor Hamish Fyfe, Co-Director of the George Ewart Evans Centre for Storytelling and Chair of the Symposium said, “The symposium aims to bring together practitioners from a range of backgrounds to explore the links between science and storytelling. It is hoped that attendees will develop a common understanding enabling scientists and storytellers to work together more closely.”
