Two police community support officers in Western BCU have been praised for their ability to sniff out crime which resulted in the discovery of an alleged cannabis farm.
PCSOs Chris Fincher and Helen James had been patrolling Mynddbach Common when their suspicions were aroused by a secluded cottage, and a distinctive smell. A search warrant was executed at the premises, which resulted in the discovery of an alleged drug farm with more than 580 plants.
PCSO Chris Fincher said “We were patrolling the common when we noticed a strong smell very similar to cannabis and at the same time saw the secluded cottage with it’s blacked out windows and curtains drawn.”
PCSO Helen James said “We will continue to work closely with the community and partners to tackle drug related crime.”
A 29-year-old man and 15-year- old youth appeared in court charged with offences relating to the production of cannabis plants, and were remanded in custody.
