Plaid’s new MP for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr has been welcomed into the team in Westminster by long serving colleagues. Plaid group leader and MP for Dwyfor Meirionydd, Elfyn Llwyd, and Arfon MP Hywel Williams met Jonathan Edwards as he took part in the first act of the new parliament in electing a new speaker for the house.
Elfyn Llwyd MP said:
“I am delighted to welcome Jonathan into the team. Adam Price was a fantastic servant to his constituency and made a real impact in parliament and I have little doubt that Jonathan will be just as effective. It is great to see that he is so eager to make a case for the people of Carmarthenshire.”
Hywel Williams MP added:
“It is quite apparent already that Jonathan is not the sort of MP that is coming to Westminster to make up the numbers. I was already impressed with Jonathan’s dedication on the campaign trail and am equally pleased he has brought that attitude with him to the chamber. There is now a tradition of firebrand Plaid MPs representing Carmarthenshire and I am sure it is one Jonathan will continue.”
Carmarthen East and Dinefwr MP Jonathan Edwards said:
“It is great to join Elfyn and Hywel as well as the SNP team. I look forward to the challenges that are ahead and making sure that I am a strong local voice in Westminster for the people of Carmarthen East and Dinefwr.”
