Ciwdod is proud to announce the release of the highly anticipated compilation album that will include a song from every artist released on the label since 2004.
Community Music Wales established Ciwdod in 2004 to increase the social use of the Welsh language. Ciwdod is a unique scheme as it uses music to engage young people in Welsh language activity. It delivers workshops, music industry mentoring, gigs, community music tutor training and also runs a Welsh language label offering opportunities for musicians to learn how to release and promote their music.
Over the past six years Ciwdod has released 15 amazing singles from ska to punk, and rap to electro. The compilation album should certainly have something for everyone.
This first volume of Ciwdod’s singles contains a track from each of the 15 releases, alongside a brand new song from Cardiff based band, Zimmermans. Ciwdod’s roster of bands has included Derwyddon’ Dr Gonzo, Radio Luxembourg (now Racehorses), Yr Ods and Threatmantics to name but a few.
Ciwdod helped the bands and artists on this compilation through providing advice, mentoring, studio time, partnering them with producers, working with them on art work, giving information on distribution, working with the press, promoting gigs and a load of support. The scheme has worked with over 45 bands, released 15 singles, delivered over 180 workshops, supported over 70 Welsh language gigs and helped community organisations to put on Welsh language music activity.

To Launch the CD in the North there will be a free gig at the Morgan Lloyd, Caernarfon, on June the 11th at 9pm. Acts to be announced.
