Commenting on today’s Queen’s Speech Jenny Willott, the Liberal Democrat MP for Cardiff Central said:
“This is an ambitious programme for Government and one that will help to make the UK a fairer, freer country. The plans set out by the new Coalition Government will come as a welcome change from the authoritarian, London-centric attitude of the Labour Party.
“We will see legislation to abolish ID Cards, tackle the deficit and climate change, and reform Parliament, giving more power back to ordinary people, including the right to sack corrupt MPs.
“I am particularly pleased that the Queen’s Speech confirmed the Coalition’s commitment to a referendum on devolving further powers to Wales. This is an important part of giving Welsh people a say in how decisions which affect them are made.”
