Gwent Police is welcoming 41 new recruits to the force this week.
The 22 Probationer Police Officers together with 19 Police Community Support Officers are starting their training programme.
During the course they will engage with the communities they’ll be serving and experience realistic scenarios through role play and practical exercises with members of the public who volunteer to assist us. They will also complete attachments with voluntary organisations providing an opportunity to develop strong community relations.
Chief Constable Mick Giannasi is looking forward to seeing the new recruits on duty;
“I am delighted to be welcoming our new recruits to the force. They will ultimately be increasing our number of frontline officers, something we are committed to in our efforts to provide an excellent service to our communities.
The addition to our team doesn’t stop here, we have a number of transferee police officers joining us in December from other forces throughout the UK and this week we have also opened our books for recruiting further police officers in 2010.
This is the time for anyone who is interested in becoming a police officer to apply. We are looking for those can really make a difference, are interested in working with people and being part of the community they serve.”
