David Griffiths to head up Engineering & Transport

Currently holding the position of Architectural Design & Project Management Manager in Property and Regeneration, David will take over the reins as Head of Engineering & Transport at Neath Port Talbot Council from 1st June.

He said, “I am looking forward to joining a strong and experienced team and the challenges that the new job will bring.  A key part of my role will be to support new development and transport opportunities through improving the infrastructure in key regeneration areas, playing a major part in the council’s future regeneration plans.”

Originally from Neath, where he still lives with his family, David is a Member of the Royal Institution of British Architects (RIBA) and the Association of Project Management (MAPM).  Professionally qualified he holds an Honour’s qualification at both degree and Post Graduate level in Architecture.

He has worked for Local Government for over 20 years, starting in 1989 with Neath Borough Council in the Directorate of Engineering & Operations and more recently in 1996 for Neath Port Talbot Council.

Prior to this he studied in London and had the privilege of working with the late Sir Hugh Casson on the Parliamentary buildings at Westminster.

He has a broad range of experience in the design of major projects for the council, including the new Civic Centre at Neath, the Quays at Briton Ferry and the award winning buildings at Baglan Energy Park.

John Flower, Director of Environment, added, “The internal appointment brought forward a number of strong candidates.  Dave with his experience and knowledge of Local Government will be an asset to the Environment Management Team.”
