Burry Port launches to assist grounded yacht At 1pm on Bank Holiday Monday (31 May 2010) the volunteer crew at the RNLI’s station at Burry Port launched to the assistance of a grounded yacht at the north end of Cefn Sidan beach.

The yacht Dagman had left Burry Port earlier in the day for Ferryside with owner Mr Glyn Jennison, from Carmarthen, on board had ran aground on Cefn Sidan close to the watch towers at RAF Pembrey. The Mr Jennison,  had sent out a MAYDAY call as he thought he was in immediate danger.

Swansea Coastguards had requested the launch of Burry Port Lifeboat, Tenby All-weather Lifeboat (ALB) and Tenby Inshore Lifeboat.

When Burry Port Lifeboat arrived on scene the yacht was high and dry and was unable to be refloated and due to the shallow water Tenby ALB was unable to get close to the Dagman.

Burry Port lifeboat took Mr Jennison off the yacht into the care of Burry Port Coastguard. The lifeboat crew secured the Dagman off Cefn Sidan to be refloated later in the day.

The lifeboat was crewed by Owain Davies, Justin Pugh and Lee Howells.
