A network of community volunteers will meet with council officials and local Neighbourhood Policing Teams next week to look at ways in which they can further enhance their work alongside crime and disorder fighting agencies, and help make Caerphilly county borough an even safer place to live, work and visit.
The Safer Caerphilly Volunteer Network is a group of volunteers comprised of active members of the community, including Community Crime Fighters, Neighbourhood Watch coordinators, Residents and Tenants Association representatives, Community Partnerships representatives and Crime Prevention Panel members.
These dedicated volunteers act as the vital direct link between crime and disorder fighting agencies and the communities they serve in Caerphilly county borough.
Anyone interested in joining this ever-growing community volunteer network is invited to attend the second of an ongoing programme of three monthly briefing events being held at Caerphilly County Borough Council’s headquarters, Penallta House, Tredomen Park, Tredomen on Tuesday 8th June, from 6pm-8pm.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available free at the event upon arrival from 5:45pm onwards.
Cllr Lyn Ackerman, cabinet member for the environment, which incorporates community safety said, “We are fortunate enough to have over 100 trained volunteer Community Crime Fighters in our county borough, and we are looking at ways in which these volunteers can work alongside us to help make Caerphilly county borough an even safer place to live.”
She continued, “Multi agency working is vital in our quest for even safer communities, and it is especially pleasing that we also have the local knowledge and commitment of this dedicated group of volunteers to work with us in achieving our goal.”
The Community Crime Fighters initiative is a key part of the Home Office’s national neighbourhood crime and justice initiative ‘Justice Seen Justice Done’, of which Caerphilly is a pioneer area.
The initiative aims to build community confidence in how crime and disorder is tackled and justice delivered.
